DESCRIPTION:Learn about heating and cooling your home using basic solar passive design to reducing energy costs and carbon emissions!\n\n\nDo you want to have a more sustainable home\, without having to move or build a new one? \nIn this interactive workshop Shani and Tim will teach you about the principles of basic solar passive design and how you can use those principles to save gas and electricity in your home. Many low or no cost actions will be covered in depth. You will leave with some great ideas to reduce your environmental impact and those power bills! \nTea and coffee provided. Help us reduce waste by bringing your reusable keep cup. \nAbout the presenters \nShani and Tim from Ecoburbia have a wealth of knowledge relating to urban homesteads\, adult education\, building and sustainability. This knowledge is exemplified by Ecoburbia\, an urban infill development with shared living spaces to increase the population density\, urban farm\, and demonstration sustainable house\, with cutting edge energy systems\, water collection and dispersal systems and innovative passive solar design. Their goal is to create more sustainable\, connected and resilient communities by providing exciting and motivating educational programs that are based on sound behaviour change theory. \nExtra information \nPhotography and/or filming may occur at this event. DESCRIPTION:Join BirdLife WA and learn how to get involved with the Great Cocky Count (GCC) – the largest survey of Black-Cockatoos in WA!\n\n\nJoin BirdLife WA in the Shire of Mundaring and become a citizen scientist by getting involved with the Great Cocky Count (GCC) – the largest survey of Black-Cockatoos in WA. This workshop will provide training to volunteers to take part in the official count on the12th of April. \nLocal ornithologist Simon Cherriman will also be a part of the conversation to share his insights and observations on the species’ breeding over the season here in the Shire of Mundaring and beyond! \nPlus\, we’re thrilled to announce that you’ll meet Princess Rex\, a beautiful Baudins cockatoo\, along with Sam Clarke from the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre. Participants will learn about Black Cockatoo conservation and how to identify these magnificent birds while enjoying a close-up encounter. \nBring the kids along—we’ll have Eco-Educator extraordinaire Cathy Levett on hand to keep them engaged while you take in the important information. \nTea and coffee provided.
