SUMMARY:Old Blythewood: 50 Years of Sharing Stories
DESCRIPTION:Community Open Day to mark 50 years of the National Trust conserving\, celebrating and sharing Old Blythewood’s stories\n\n\nOld Blythewood: 50 Years of Sharing Stories\n \nOld Blythewood on Bindjareb Noongar Country was first open to the public by the National Trust in April 1976\, after the house was gifted to us by the McLarty family in 1972. Join us as we celebrate 50 years of sharing stories of the evolution of this special place overlooking the banks of the Bilya Maadjit (Murray River). \nReflect on the stunning natural environment that served as a farming\, hunting\, and gathering spot for the Bindjareb Noongar people for tens of thousands of years. Explore the heritage house built by John and Mary Anne McLarty in 1860 that was not only the family farm and home\, but a thriving community business. And discover how the National Trust has been conserving\, celebrating and sharing Old Blythewood’s stories so that future generations can continue to enjoy it. \nThis family friendly community event will be enhanced by music from the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra (WAYJO) with coffee and treats available for purchase from local favourite Black Velvet and Honey. \nOld Blythewood is located 4 km south of Pinjarra and is a one-hour drive south of Perth. \nAccessibility \nIf you have any access requirements that we should be aware of\, please let us know during the registration process or get in touch with National Trust of Western Australia via phone (08) 9321 6088 or email engagement@ntwa.com.au.
