SUMMARY:Art Workshop: Nala Wer Ngaangk - Seaweed and Sun
DESCRIPTION:Discover sun-powered printing in this beautiful hands-on cyanotype session led by artists Robyn Jean and Emily Rose.\n\n\nUsing freshly collected seaweed and delicate kwel (sheoak) needles gathered from local waterways\, you’ll arrange your own compositions on light-sensitive paper and let Ngaangk (the sun) do the rest. Watch deep blues emerge as the ocean’s textures and the land’s fine details are captured forever in a single\, luminous print. \n\nNo experience needed – perfect for beginners and experienced makers alike\nCreate stunning\, one-of-a-kind artworks to keep or gift\nLearn the full cyanotype process.\nConnect creatively with Country through sustainable\, nature-based art\n\nLeave with your own set of striking blue prints and a new appreciation for the living patterns of our coast and wetlands. \nAll materials provided. Just bring your curiosity and a sunhat! \nSuitable for ages 16+ \n \nThis workshop is held in recognition of the installation of the Once Were Strangers sculpture. Once Were Strangers\, designed by Emily and Robyn and manufactured by Jahne Reese\, was installed outside 334 Cambridge Street\, Wembley on Tuesday\, 16 December 2025. This elegant public seat weaves together Noongar heritage and coastal life; its flowing lines tracing Lake Galup\, ancient bidi\, and ocean waves. Two silent figures celebrate the unspoken bonds of community across generations. It’s a welcoming seat for listening\, healing\, and quietly nurturing connections in the Town of Cambridge.
