16 Days in WA – Denise Pepper Installation
November 27 @ 9:00 am - 7:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 9:00 am, repeating until December 10, 2024
From 25 November to 10 December 2024, during 16 Days in WA, the City of Stirling will showcase a pop-up art installation by Denise Pepper at Osborne Park Library that seeks to amplify the voices of those affected by domestic violence in Western Australia and beyond.
The artworks, titled ‘New Beginnings’, ‘Courage’, ‘Strength’ and ‘Resilience’, use the symbolism of flowers and the language associated with them to weave a narrative transcending botanical imagery and shine light on the silence and complexity of domestic violence within the confines of society.
Constructed in a variety of materials – from cardboard, timber, steel, vintage wallpaper and hand-embossed aluminium tags – Denise Pepper says her wish is that these artworks are seen as symbolic beacons of hope for women and families lost in the unrelenting prevalence of domestic violence.
