SUMMARY:Art Exhibition: Emergent Curiosities
DESCRIPTION:Visit CoLab2 Gallery to see the latest solo exhibition by Fremantle based artist\, Jem Ham.\n\n\nFremantle-based artist Jem Ham presents Emergent Curiosities\, a solo exhibition of works exploring the hidden landscapes of the mind. Inspired by Aldous Huxley’s idea that “our mind still has its darkest Africas\, its unmapped Borneos and Amazonian basins\,” these works are collected specimens\, revealing strange forms born of intuition\, memory\, feeling\, and archetypal imagery\, forming a kind of psychic ecology. Each work dives into mystery and emerges as a curiosity. What they are and what they mean is still open to interpretation. Discovered over time and brought together in the exhibition\, these unique curiosities invite visitors to encounter them\, perhaps finding doorways to their own unmapped regions. \n \n✨ Opening Night: 6 March\, 6 to 9 pm. \n📆 Exhibition Open: 7 March – 15 March 2026\, 10 am to 4 pm daily. \n📍 Location: CoLab2 Gallery (within SHAC). 3 Cower Mews\, White Gum Valley\, WA 6162. Parking on Nannine Ave\, near Sullivan Hall. \n👉 Free entry. RSVP optional for opening night on 6 March for reminders and updates. Drop in freely on all other days. \nPlease note: Unfortunately there is no wheelchair access to Colab 2 Gallery. \n—- \n🌐 jemham.com \n📸 @theartofjemham

SUMMARY:Black-Cockatoos and The Great Cocky Count! @ Dordaak Kepup Library
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an informative session about our lively southwest black-cockatoos\, the annual Great Cocky Count\, and how you can get involved!\n\n\nThe Great Cocky Count is a long-term citizen science survey and the biggest single survey for black-cockatoos in Western Australia. During one night in autumn\, volunteers monitor and count black-cockatoos as they arrive at dusk to roost at known sites. \nRecords submitted from across the southwest provide a snapshot of threatened black-cockatoo populations\, and over time this has helped to work out the changes in their numbers. \nDuring this workshop presented by BirdLife Australia\, you will learn about the three species of black-cockatoos in southwest WA\, their identification\, biology\, ecology\, behaviour\, threats and how to get involved with the survey. \nThis workshop is supported by funding from the Western Australian Government’s State NRM Program. \nPhoto credits: Keith Baudin

SUMMARY:Melville Summer Music | Romeo Walker (Ben Witt) & Heathcote Blue
DESCRIPTION:Melville Summer Music brings golden hour concerts to your doorstep from November to March\, showcasing the best of Perth’s live music across the City of Melville’s most scenic parks. \nPack a picnic or grab a tasty bite from local food trucks and enjoy 10 beautiful shows across five green spaces among friends\, family and your local community. \nView the full season lineup and find out more about accessibility at melvillecity.com.au/melvillesummermusic \n☼♪ Romeo Walker (Ben Witt) ♪☼ \nRomeo Walker is the new project of Benjamin Witt\, a WAM Award winning artist and multi-instrumentalist from Perth\, Western Australia. He has toured nationally and supported acts such as Methyl Ethel\, The Drones & Ariel Pink. As a session musician he has worked for many renowned Australian artists including Empire of the Sun\, Pond & Meg Mac. Romeo Walker deliver smooth\, genre-defying sounds backed by Ben Witt’s well known and loved vocals.\n☼♪ Heathcote Blue ♪☼ \nHeathcote Blue began as the intimate folk project of Boorloo/Perth songwriter Lyndon Blue\, inspired by the stripped-back storytelling of Nick Drake and Gillian Welch. What started as a solo venture soon grew into a duo with violinist/vocalist (and sibling) Maddy Blue\, and has since blossomed into a collective of alt-country collaborators including Daniel Harrison\, Saskia Willinge and Jameson Feakes. Their music drifts between evocative\, playful\, sad and uplifting\, often all at once\, weaving rich harmonies and instrumentation into heartfelt folk songs.
