SUMMARY:Six Seasons Trails | Settlers Common
DESCRIPTION:The Six Seasons Trail invites you to experience the landscapes of Armadale through the changing rhythms of Whadjuk Noongar Boodja (Country). \nStep into one of the largest remaining bushland reserves on the western edge of the Darling Scarp\, where the walking trails of Armadale Settlers Common reveal a landscape shaped by diversity\, resilience and time. \nSpanning 383 hectares\, the reserve protects open Jarrah–Marri forest\, granite outcrops\, creek lines\, and more than 300 native plant species including several rare and priority flora species. The changing vegetation provides habitat for western grey kangaroos\, quendas\, reptiles and an abundance of native birdlife\, including threatened black cockatoos. \nWhether walking beneath towering eucalypts\, pausing beside seasonal creek lines or taking in views across the foothills\, you’re invited to slow down\, tread lightly and discover a landscape where nature and culture remain inseparably connected. \nGuided by The Hike Collective. SUMMARY:Canning Turtle Talk and ‘Turtle Tracker’ Training
DESCRIPTION:Our native snake-necked turtle population needs your help.\n\n\nMany of the City of Canning’s wetlands\, including Wilson Wetlands\, are home to populations of the snake-necked turtle which are under threat from a combination of predators such as foxes and ravens\, vehicle strikes on our roads\, lack of suitable nesting habitat and the increased drying of southwest wetlands. \nCome to this workshop to learn about snake-necked turtles and the Saving Our Snake Necked Turtle (SOSNT) project. \nSOSNT is a citizen science project and community engagement program to help conserve the snake-necked turtle. \nSOSNT provides you with an opportunity to help protect turtles by receiving training to become a ‘Turtle Tracker’. You can be trained to support nesting turtles\, protect their nests and use the TurtleSAT App. From September to January turtles leave the water to nest. They are most vulnerable during this time\, so need your help then. \nFor further information about the project visit the website: www.SOSNT.net.au
