Museum Mornings – The History and Science of Moving Images

We welcome back special guest speaker Richard Rennie for this months Museum Morning talk looking at the history of moving images.
Learn about Magic Lanterns, Dissolving Slides, Phantasmagoria, Phenakistoscopes, Zoetropes and Mutoscopes during this interactive talk. Hear about the history of early amateur animation in Western Australia and the connection to the theatres in Subiaco.
Richard will bring along some of the early moving image technologies for visitors to use and see how they worked. Items from the museum’s collection will also be on display including Paddy Baker’s projector from the Regal Theatre.
Museum Mornings are held on the first Thursday of the month at the Subiaco Museum with a free morning tea provided.
Book now to join this free event for adults from 10 am to11.30 am to explore the museum collection and discover new artefacts with a different theme each month.
The closest toilets are located at the Subiaco Library.
