From convict days to the deconstruction of the Bunbury jetty – there is something here for everyone in this eclectic collection of stories.
Our presenter for this session is Leslie Thiele on Forrest, O’Connor, Vosper: An Agony of Vision.
Date: Sunday 28 August 2022
Time:1:30pm to 3:30pm
Free entry, RSVPs via Eventbrite are encouraged.
In this Winter Warmer talk, we explore the political forces at play at the end of the 1800s in Western Australia. Three men would play vital roles in the formation of a new future for the state: Bunbury born Lord John Forrest, talented Irish engineer Charles Yelverton O’Connor and Cornishman Frederick Vosper. Though their fortunes were intertwined, only one would live to see their vision realised, as the ‘Cinderella state’ came into its own.
Leslie Thiele is the Education and Public Programs Officer at the Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre.
The Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre presents Winter Warmer, our program of free events celebrating local history every Sunday afternoon through June to August.
