The Old Coast Road Brewery Review
Since opening in 2007, The Old Coast Road Brewery in Myalup has become a ‘must-do’ when travelling in the southwest of our state. Only a short drive off the Forest Highway, this family-friendly restaurant has something for everyone.
On a recent holiday in Binningup, our seniors’ group decided to finish off our short break with a meal at The Old Coast Road Brewery.

It was easy to find and the drive up to the restaurant is very pleasant with olive trees on either side of the road.
It’s a huge place with seating for 300 people over three spaces – indoors, the deck and the beer garden. One of the staff said that it was not uncommon for them to serve more than 500 meals on a busy afternoon. After hearing that we were expecting the average pub grub that is normally served in large restaurants with a good turnover.
We were right about pub grub – fish and chips ($28), beef burgers ($27), parmi ($28), pizzas ($26) and a Thai salad with prawns ($28). We also ordered two starters – pork belly bites with plum sauce ($18) and crumbed haloumi with romesco sauce ($18).
But we were really wrong about the ‘average’ part. The food was very good. The portions were generous and we really had no need for the starters but we ate them anyway! The pork belly was melt in your mouth tender and the crumbed haloumi well cooked. My fish and chips had not one, not two but three pieces of Sweetlips snapper fillets. And yes we were all well stuffed and very satisfied with our lunch.

One aspect of the Brewery that I wasn’t fond of is that food and drink are ordered in separate queues so either order drinks first or have one person from your group in each queue as the lines can be long.
There is a variety of tables including long wooden tables with bench type seats for larger groups. Those with mobility problems might prefer tables inside or on the deck as it may be easier than navigating through the red dirt area or the stairs to the outside tables.

A cubby house, fenced play area and a mini-golf course will keep the grandchildren amused and more energetic grandparents may enjoy kicking a football, playing bocce, Frisbee, totem tennis or cricket on the large grassy expanse. All equipment is supplied by the restaurant – colouring-in books and videos are also available. Dogs are welcome in the outside areas.

The Old Coast Road Brewery is highly recommended for a relaxing Sunday afternoon.
