Change up your next road trip with a lunch stop somewhere different – the Eaton Tavern! If you’re driving to WA’s southwest and need a convenient and tasty lunch stop, Eaton Tavern is an easy 500m off the Forrest Highway. A small detour will take you to the retro-themed pub that offers everything you need for an easy lunch. The diner-like dining room has a casual, nostalgic feel. There’s plenty of comfortable and cosy booths.

The drinks line-up is good. There are plenty of beers on tap and a small, but concise choice of Margaret River and Great Southern wines. I enjoyed a glass of the Madfish Chardonnay.

Another hit on our table was the Chicken & Waffles – fried chicken, buttermilk waffle, smoky bacon, pickled red onion, coleslaw and ranch dressing.

If you have grandkids with you, or are even a big kid yourself, the dedicated arcade room is lots of fun. There’s an air hockey table, console stations, plus, there’s retro game classics like Street Fighter. Some of the games are free, while some do require a gold coin.
