Bloom: Luna Light Journey, Joondalup

Joondalup’s Central Park is set to glow this spring with Bloom: Luna Light Journey, an immersive outdoor light and sound experience running nightly from 26 September to 26 October 2025. Created by Laservision in partnership with the City of Joondalup, this after-dark trail transforms the park into a living storybook of colour, projection, lasers and gentle special effects.

Perfect for a relaxed evening walk, a date night, or an outing with family and friends (grandkids will love it too), Bloom is designed to captivate all ages at an easy pace.

What to expect

  • A 45–90 minute night-time walk through Central Park’s lawns and lakes, brought to life with vibrant light installations, projections, custom soundscapes and interactive zones.
  • A gentle storyline themed around a blue-banded bee, weaving through glowing “blooms” to celebrate nature and resilience.
  • Entry is staggered every 15 minutes, so you can enjoy the trail at your own pace without feeling rushed.

Accessibility and comfort

  • The route is pram- and wheelchair-accessible on paved and firm paths. Some areas run alongside unfenced water features, so take care in low light.
  • Portable toilets are available toward the end of the trail; signage along the way helps guide you through.
  • Low-sensory sessions run at 6:45pm nightly, with smaller crowds and softer lighting. These can also be ideal if you prefer a quieter, earlier evening. More details are in the FAQs.
  • Seating: While there are spots to pause, formal seating is limited on trail. If you like to rest frequently, consider bringing a lightweight folding seat.
  • Hearing and vision considerations: Soundscapes vary by zone; if you use hearing aids and prefer less noise, the 6:45pm low-sensory session is a good option. Paths are lit, but a small pocket torch can help with uneven ground between installations.
  • Weather: It’s an outdoor event—bring a warm layer and comfortable walking shoes. If rain is forecast, a light waterproof jacket is recommended.

Getting there

  • Location: Central Park, Joondalup. The park is a short walk from Joondalup Train Station on the Joondalup Line—an excellent option to avoid parking stress.
  • Parking: Limited general and accessible bays are available nearby and fill quickly. Arrive 10–15 minutes early or consider carpooling. There’s also a convenient Kiss & Drop zone on Grand Boulevard.

Make a night of it

  • Dining: Joondalup has plenty of nearby cafes and restaurants for a pre- or post-walk meal. On Saturday evenings, the Joondalup Night Markets on Boas Avenue often feature food trucks and sweet treats—an easy stroll from Central Park.
  • Photography: The installations are very photo-friendly. A smartphone camera with night mode (or steady hands) works well; consider turning off flash to preserve the ambience.
  • Pace yourself: The trail is self-guided. Take your time to enjoy the light tunnels, reflective water scenes and interactive displays.

Handy tips

  • Arrive 10–15 minutes early to navigate parking and entry smoothly.
  • Bring a warm layer, comfortable shoes and optionally a small torch for path edges.
  • If you prefer quieter sessions and gentler lighting, choose the 6:45pm low-sensory session.
  • Check the event’s social pages for weather updates and promotions: Instagram and Facebook.

Bloom offers a memorable, gentle evening out that’s easy to access, easy to enjoy, and perfect to share with friends, family, or visiting guests.
