Blak Dingo Club Movie Night: Satellite Boy
This May and June, we’re proud to collaborate with Ilona McGuire and Blak Dingo Club to present a free film series in honour of National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June).
For this session, we’re screening Satellite Boy – a touching Australian coming-of-age film set in the breathtaking Kimberley region.
The story follows Pete, a young Aboriginal boy, who sets off on a journey to save his home when it’s threatened by development. Along the way, he reconnects with his culture, guided by the wisdom of his grandfather, in a story about resilience, identity and the importance of Country.
Please note: Satellite Boy is rated PG (Parental Guidance) for mild themes and coarse language
Doors open from 6.30pm – please arrive by 6.45 for lights down at 7.00pm
Venue: Melville Main Hall (located at City of Melville Civic Centre)
A short film will also be screened before the main feature – details coming soon!
Blak Dingo Club was founded by Bibbulmun Noongar and Kungarakan artist Ilona McGuire, known for her groundbreaking drone-light-art performance First Lights.
Established in 2024 after the 2023 referendum, Blak Dingo Club creates joyful community connection through truth-telling and reconciliation.
