Grow a Kitchen Garden – Spring Crops

Join Shani from Ecoburbia for an engaging and informative adult workshop to learn how to plan, prep, and plant a Spring kitchen garden. This hands-on session will cover everything from selecting the right seasonal produce to preparing your garden beds for the colder months.

  • Seasonal gardening planning and crop selection

  • Preparing soil and garden beds for winter

  • Growing Spring vegetables: alliums, cruciferous crops, and more

Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a beginner, this session will provide practical tips and sustainable gardening practices to help you grow fresh, healthy produce in your own backyard, all year round.

Come prepared to get your hands dirty and leave with the confidence to start your own winter garden!

Inside in Binjar Room and outside in the garden.

Type of event and expectations

Adult workshop space – Guests are expected to follow instructions of the program facilitator, be respectful at all times and assume responsibility for their own safety. This workshop is not suitable for children.

Accessibility

This is a sitting event with some light walking around the garden.

Accessible parking is available at front of EcoHub, rooms are located on multiple levels via a ramp and toilets are available within the venue. For specific access requirements please feel free to call or email EcoHub at (08)9364 0191 or ecohub@melville.wa.gov.au

Directions to EcoHub
Please consider using public transportation. A bus stop, just a 2-minute walk away, is conveniently located near EcoHub and services multiple routes.

EcoHub is located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop in the Piney Lakes Reserve. To reach us, if heading westbound, take the first left after Murdoch Drive on Leach Highway. If coming from the Fremantle area, continue on Leach Hwy across Murdoch Drive and use the designated U-turn just after the lights to move to the westbound lanes. Go back through the lights at Murdoch Drive and take the first left. Please park in the signed public carpark.

Bring the following items in household quantities for recycling at EcoHub when you attend: household batteries, printer cartridges, light globes, mobile phones and chargers, plastic bread tags, oral care products, plastic bottle lids, metal bottle lids, beer can clips and corks.
