Environmental Literature: Book Discussion Course @Girrawheen Library
Join us in person at Girrawheen Library for an engaging book discussion course all about environmental literature. We will investigate central themes including: The spiritual dimensions of solitude and wildness; the intersection of scientific observation and literary expression; and the ethics of land stewardship, deep ecology, and place-based identity.
We will meet on Wednesday mornings at Girrawheen Library fortnightly, 10.30am-12pm, for four Wednesdays, however at the first session 28 October we will finalise exact dates according to the group’s preferences. We will start by reading Walden by Henry David Thoreau, then read Naturalist by Edward O. Wilson, then the poems of Mary Oliver, and finish the course with a reading of the poems of Wendell Berry.
