The Grove Library greatly values the roles played by our many volunteers, who enhance and extend library services.
Our library plays an important role in lifelong learning for our community by assisting people to source and share information. Libraries are very different today – there’s a whole lot more than books. Patrons can surf the net, browse a magazine, visit a ‘Baby Rhyme Time’ session or trace your family tree with our community history librarian. Our great team of volunteers help to make our library stimulating and inviting.
Library volunteers attend to such tasks as shelving, shelf reading, selection lists, assisting at library events, covering new materials and selecting and delivering books to housebound residents.
Our Community History Volunteers provide invaluable support to the Community History Librarian. They provide varied tasks such as collecting, scanning and indexing newspapers and collecting and filing news articles. The volunteers ensure the continued growth of the Community History collection, providing the suburbs of Cottesloe, Peppermint Grove and Mosman Park with a comprehensive record of their rich heritage.
