Found Lab, Byford

If you happen to find yourself in the southern end of the Perth Hills or foothills, looking for a casual bite to eat – do yourself a favour and find Found! You may be visiting the beautiful falls at Serpentine National Park, and passing through Byford. Well, let me tell you about a true hidden gem… Found deep inside one of the new housing estates is a fantastic brewery on a lake. Previously The Strand restaurant, you’d never know it was there, unless you are a local.

The light and airy brewery, filled with indoor plants, offers a spacious 200-seat venue is home to a bar, kitchen, and industrial sized beer tanks – where the magic happens. Being a brewery, there’s top craft beer on tap. Plus, there’s plenty of other options.

Whether you choose to sit indoors or in the dog-friendly outdoor area by the lake, you’ll have a good view.

Found Lab’s menu features modern pub grub favourites (including pizzas, fish n chips etc) and share dishes cooked really well. The diverse menu ensures there’s something to please every palate. We shared buttermilk fried chicken and tender squid (both GF), which were both delicious. We’re not local to Byford, but we would happily drive there again for plates of those. I hope they never leave the menu!

We also enjoyed a tasty special – sticky Asian pork belly bites.

For the grandkids there’s colouring in, a small sandpit and top-quality bites on the kid’s menu.

If you’re looking for a solid spot to enjoy a pub meal, we’ve done the leg work and “Found” it for you. With its relaxed, friendly atmosphere, beautiful setting (there’s plenty of birdlife on the lake to watch), and delicious food, Found Lab brewery is a great choice for those looking for a top lunch in Perth’s South-East. Seek and you shall find, Found.
