Found at the base of a new apartment block on Canning Highway, a hop skip and jump from Canning Bridge and the Swan River, you’ll find Stonewater Indian Restaurant. Founded by chef Elance Fernando, Stonewater was born out of a love for Indian cuisine.
First up, it’s handy to know the parking situation at Stonewater restaurant. Guest parking is available underneath The Precinct building, accessed off Ogilvie Road. It’s well signposted, so pretty easy to find. The underground car parking spot is paid, but free after 6pm. A lift takes you right to the door of the Stonewater restaurant. Step inside Stonewater, and you’re greeted by a warm atmosphere. The dining room offers plenty of comfortable bench style seats where diners can relax and browse the menu. The elegant bar, adorned with chandeliers, adds a touch of luxury.
At Stonewater, the Indian dishes are served with modern flair. Begin with a deconstructed samosa, where puff pastry encased curried potatoes are served open with green peas and a mint chutney.
Grilled masarla lamb chops (cutlets), were tasty.
Chicken tikka skewers and bursting with smoky flavours of India and served with a mint sauce.
Main course came in the form of four curries and a serve of saffron rice. This easily feeds three or four people. There was a butter chicken, Desi goat curry, plus a vegetable curry and yellow dal with ginger and garlic. Each tasty curry took on a flavour of its own.
And you just have to have a cheese naan on the side.
Whether you’re craving the creamy indulgence of a classic Butter Chicken, or something a little different, Stonewater has something on their menu to satisfy every palate. From traditional entrees to saucy curries, each tasty bite brings the diverse tapestry of Indian flavours and spices. If you’re looking for a curry, and you’re not in a hurry, be sure to book a table at Stonewater Indian Restaurant.
