Appreciate your local bush patch!
August 31 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Join Steve McCabe on an expedition around Banksia Hill in the Canning River Regional Park, where every trail leads to a new discovery and every tree tells a story. With a deep-rooted passion for environmental stewardship and a wealth of knowledge in bushland management, Steve is your trusted companion on this immersive bushwalk experience.
As a resident of Perth, one of the most biodiverse cities on planet Earth, you have the unique opportunity to explore and appreciate the incredible biodiversity that surrounds us in our local bush patches. Perth boasts a rich tapestry of plant and animal life that is unmatched in most of the rest of the world. Yet, despite this abundance, many residents have yet to uncover the hidden treasures nestled within their own backyard.
As you meander along winding bush paths, Steve will share fascinating stories about the plants and creatures around you. Steve will also discuss how your local bushland patch would have fit into the traditional round of seasonal resource use across the Swan Coastal Plain. You will also find out about local friends groups who look after the bushland and opportunities to get involved.
Join us as we embark on a journey of discovery, and together, let’s appreciate and protect the precious biodiversity of our local bush patches for generations to come.
