Join us at Subiaco Library where authors Nadine Browne and Linda Martin will discuss their new books and the real life stories behind them, in this special in-conversation event moderated by Fremantle Press’ publisher Georgia Richter. Books will be available for sale at the Dymocks Subiaco book stall after the event.
About Nadine Browne
Nadine Browne is a prose writer, poet and essayist. Her work has been featured in Overland, The Massachusetts Review and ABC Australia. She is the author of the short story collection The Whip Hand, with Michaela Nicolescu. Her debut novel is Gone Guru. She received an MFA in fiction at New York University, where she was a Starworks Fellow.
About Gone Guru
Noni Barlow is broke, jet-lagged and alone in New York with nothing but a dream and a manuscript. When her idol Joyce Carol Oates tells her that Born Again memoirs are so ‘last year’, Noni’s big break starts to feel like a big mistake. To add to the general weirdness, she meets her new flatmate only once before he vanishes into thin air – and that’s even before Noni discovers he is a transcendental meditation guru with a massive following, and a million-dollar trust fund. Aided by an octogenarian social worker, and the sarcastic daughter of her Dominican landlady, Noni finds herself deep in the case of the disappearing guru. About Linda Martin
Linda Martin is a writer, book editor and co-founder of Night Parrot Press. She has extensive publishing experience, having held positions of senior in-house editor at UWA Publishing, production manager at Fremantle Press, and having worked as a freelance editor for publishing houses including Fremantle Press and Magabala Books. She lectures in editing and publishing at Edith Cowan University (where she received her PhD), and has lectured in publishing and writing at Curtin University and at the University of Western Australia. Her creative fiction and nonfiction writing has been published in Westerly, Cordite Scholarly and in international flash-fiction journals.

About Georgia Richter
Georgia Richter has an MA (Creative Writing) from the University of Western Australia and is an IPEd Accredited Editor. She has taught creative writing, professional writing and editing at the universities of Melbourne and Western Australia, as well as at Curtin University. Georgia joined Fremantle Press in 2008 as the fiction, narrative non-fiction and poetry publisher. She is the co-writer of How to Be an Author, a book that details the business of being an author in Western Australia.
