Bell Ringing Tour & Workshop
On the first Sunday of the month, the Bell Tower Ringers throw open the doors to the tower and welcome you in to the mysterious world of Change Ringing.
- a behind the scenes visit to the bell chamber where you can get ‘up close and personal’ with one of the largest musical instruments in the southern hemisphere, including the 5500kg ANZAC Bell
- access to the ringing room where the ringers practice and perform
- seeing the Bell Tower Ringers in action as they explain and demonstrate the ancient art of Change Ringing
- and of course the opportunity to try your hand and see if you’ve got what it takes to be a bell ringer.
The Bell Ringing Tour and Workshop offers a rare opportunity to find out what it’s really all about and to try your hand at ringing a bell. If you’ve ever been curious about what the bell ringers actually do, come in and be enlightened. It won’t be what you expect.
