Bunuru Guided Walk & Talk

Join us for a guided walk through Piney Lakes Reserve with Rickeeta Walley, as we explore the Noongar season of Bunuru, the season of adolescence. This season, typically from February to March, is the hottest time of the year, characterized by dry weather, little rain, and cool winds in the afternoons.

Meeting at the front of the City of Melville EcoHub (formerly Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre), your journey begins with a relaxed walk through the Reserve. There will be plenty of stops for yarning and questions, as Rickeeta shares insights on the cultural significance of the land, the six seasons, and the traditional uses of native plants.

Due to the popularity of this event, if you cannot make it please cancel your ticket so that others can attend.

This event will start at 4.00pm, and will include a short introduction at the front of EcoHub . If you are running late, the group may be difficult to find.

Location

Mostly outside in Piney Lakes Reserve. Please meet at the front of EcoHub.

Requirements

Comfortable enclosed footwear, long pants, sunscreen, hat and water bottle.

Type of event and expectations

This is a casual event, all ages welcome, please be respectful to each other and the environment. Caregivers are responsible for the health and safety of their children at all times.

Accessibility

This walk will include some uneven and possibly unsealed paths (including a wooden boardwalk) unsuitable for prams, wheelchairs/walking aids.
