Caring in the Later Stages – Online

Caring in the Later Stages program by Dementia Australia. Suitable for family members and family carers.

This program offers information and support for family members and carers who are preparing for or supporting someone in the later stages of dementia.

It includes topics such as the progression of dementia, health care in the later stages, strategies for adjusting to change, tips for carer wellbeing and finding support, and provides an opportunity to connect with others in a similar situation.

Suitable for: Family members and family carers caring for someone living with dementia in the later stages. It is recommended that participants have a good understanding of dementia and their caring role, and have attended other Dementia Australia education in the past. This program is not intended as professional education for workers employed in the health or aged care sectors.

This program runs across 5 sessions every Tuesday. To complete this program, you must attend all the 5 sessions:

  • Tuesday, 10 February 2026, from 10:00am to 12:30pm
  • Tuesday, 17 February 2026, from 10:00am to 12:30pm
  • Tuesday, 24 February 2026, from 10:00am to 12:30pm
  • Tuesday, 03 March 2026, from 10:00am to 12:30pm
  • Tuesday, 10 March 2026, from 10:00am to 12:30pm

Dementia Australia’s facilitators have specialist dementia knowledge, skills and experience. This program is delivered interactively, you will be encouraged to share your experiences alongside other participants giving you an opportunity to develop new support networks.

How do I access the online program?

The link to this online session will be emailed to the email address that you have provided in your registration, once the registration has closed, which is 2 working days prior to the session.

If you have not received the link to this session within a day prior to the session, please check your junk mail. If it’s not in your junk mail, please contact the facilitator with the contact details below.

There is no need to download any software in order to participate in this online workshop, therefore you will only need to click on the link to join the session at starting time.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is ideal if you can bring your ticket. However, if you have completed your registration we will have your details and forgetting your ticket won’t be a problem.

This event is not suitable for professional carers or people employed in the health or aged care industries. The resources, content and delivery will not meet the needs of professionals.
