February Film:
LANTANA (Australia 2001) Directed by Ray Lawrence
Based on Speaking in Tongues by WA playwright Andrew Bovell, Lantana is a psychological drama about love, infidelity and mistrust. It’s about the mistakes we make, the consequences we suffer and the attempts we make to fix things up. Detective Leon Zat (Anthony LaPaglia) moves through a dark labyrinth of human relationships on his journey to solve the mystery of a woman’s disappearance.  Winner of seven Australian Film Institute Awards including Best Film.
“The movie just seems to happen, to grow out of the ground like a thorny plant, revealing the intricate intelligence of its design only in hindsight.” – A.O. Scott, New York Times
