Gardening with Fabulous Microbes

There is a lot going on under the ground which affects the health of your soil and garden plants.
Come to this interactive session to learn about soil health with live viewing of soil microbes from samples from compost and from a garden area.
Topics covered will include:
- Focus on soil microbes
- Viewing bacteria, fungi, protozoa and nematodes
- How microbes help build soil structure
- How microbes help manage moisture in the soil
- How microbes help plants get the nutrients they need
- How microbes help plants be healthy
- How do you know if you have a healthy population of soil microbes
- What harms soil microbes
- How you can enhance the diversity and quantity of soil microbes in your garden
By the end of this session, participants will be aware of what soil microbes look like, how they help keep a garden healthy, and how they can support their soil microbes.
Suitable for youth 14+ and adults.
