Heritage Conversations 2025: Collecting and Connecting

Join us at the Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre for a day filled with insightful discussions and engaging activities centred around the preservation and celebration of our heritage.
This in-person event is the perfect opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, share your own stories, and learn from experts in the field. Lunch will be provided.
Speakers:
Shamara Williams, Manager, Volunteer SW
Volunteer South West (VSW) has been operating successfully in the Greater South West Region since 1996, and provides a volunteer referral service for volunteer involving, not for profit, organisations in our region. Their aim is to match individuals wanting to volunteer with meaningful positions at our member agencies.
Alison Atkinson-Phillips, Oral History WA
Alison Atkinson-Phillips is the president of Oral History WA and vice president of Oral History Australia. Alison is an experienced oral historian and the author of Survivor Memorials: Remembering Trauma and Loss in Contemporary Australia, based on her oral history work with memory activists.
Natalie Evans, Project Manager, Collections WA
Collections WA is a free, searchable platform that brings together collections from libraries, galleries, museums, archives, historical societies, cultural organisations, community groups and other collecting organisations across Western Australia.
Distributed far and wide across the state, Western Australia’s diverse collections capture the countless shared stories of our past. Collections WA has been designed as a central database that can unite and strengthen our stories, build connections, and help us to gain a better understanding of Western Australia’s intricate history.

Join Jenny for a roaming floor talk to discuss the exhibition Stories of Carey Park where she will reveal the process of developing the exhibition, and discuss the challenges and surprises she encountered
