Workshop schedule
- 10am – Meet your local hosts (Emma Snow from Town Team Movement and Steve Fernandez from High Streets Belmont Town Team) and learn about their exciting new projects.
- 10:15am – Learn about community placemaking and how to have fun making things happen
- 10:35am – Take a ‘place walk’ together to identify and explore opportunities for community placemaking in local places
- 11am – Design and create a dining space for locals to use over the weekend
- 12pm – Enjoy the space over lunch together!
Meet your hosts
Emma Snow – Placemaker and Executive Director
Emma’s relationship with place projects started with her involvement in establishing an early town team in her neighbourhood – Creative Maylands.
She has over 15 years’ experience working in local government, first in strategic urban planning and then in placemaking and place management. She has collaborated to bring many successful and enduring groups and projects to life.
Steve Fernandez – Founder High Streets Belmont
Steve has a background in town planning and has always had an interest in urban design, place revitalisation and place making. Steve started ‘High Streets Belmont – Town Team’ in 2022.
Steve likes the idea of Town Team being grass roots because it gets the local community involved in making the places they live in grow in a way they will be used and appreciated. What small things can we do ourselves that makes where we live better?
