Museum Morning – How to Read a Dress

October 1 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Free

We bring back one of our most popular talk series with the next instalment of How to Read a Dress. Come and see some of the museum’s most fragile garments as we uncover the stories told through fashion and unlock the hidden language of dress and style from decades past. Learn how garments can be ‘read’ as historical documents and see how clothing reflects shifting identities, roles and aspirations in Subiaco’s community history.

Meet new people, share memories and listen to some interesting history followed by a free morning tea.

Museum Mornings are conducted by Subiaco Museum on the first Thursday of the month (excluding January). Commencing at 10am, the free lecture runs for 30-45 minutes and is followed by morning tea. Explore the Museum collection and discover a different theme each month. Upcoming events include:

  • Made in Subiaco, Thursday 5 November

  • Australian Fine China, Calyx, Bristile and Wembley Ware, Thursday 3 December
