Sow & Grow

Take our seeds, plant them, then take them home to grow! 🌱
Our inaugural Sow & Grow pilot program is a casual drop-in session for City of Melville residents to plant seasonal produce seeds to take home before planting later in the season.
How it works
Bring your vessels to plant your seeds in, then drop-in to the City of Melville EcoHub any time during the session. Fill your vessels with soil provided by the EcoHub, then select a few varieties of seasonal produce seeds to plant. When you’re done sowing, sign up to Grow It Local for FREE growing guides and gardening workshops.
You must be a City of Melville resident to attend. Please bring a current ID or rates notice showing your name and City of Melville address.
What seeding ‘vessels’ you can bring 🌼
Get creative and reuse what you have at home! Some ideas include:
- Old seedling trays
- Toilet rolls
- Egg cartons
- Paper shopping bags or newspaper folded into pots
- Clean containers like butter tubs, yoghurt pots, or strawberry punnets
While you’re at the EcoHub
- Don’t miss the Piney Lakes Community Garden Open Garden from 9.00am to 11.00am. Enjoy a guided tour of the beautiful space and pick up some FOGO compost for sale to enrich your garden soil (subject to availability).
- Sign up for a FREE Grow It Local account – Australia’s best platform for easy-to-learn, step-by-step gardening guides and workshops to grow a patch at home that’s the envy of the neighbourhood! *Available to City of Melville residents.
