Wattle We Do in the Bush with Simon Cherriman

Join passionate ecologist and storyteller Simon Cherriman for a guided bushwalk that will open your eyes (and ears!) to the wonders of our native environment. This interactive nature walk is all about discovering and understanding the wattles that thrive in the Hills—and the ones that don’t belong.
As you wander through the bush, Simon will teach you how to identify local native Acacia species, distinguish them from introduced varieties, and explain how we can support biodiversity through responsible planting and bushcare practices.
🌿 What You’ll Discover:
- How to tell the difference between native and introduced wattles
- Which species to plant and promote, and which to control or remove
- Best-practice tips on management and follow-up control methods
- A bonus bird-call ID session—learn to recognise some feathered friends by sound!
This is a fantastic opportunity to deepen your understanding of local ecology while enjoying time in nature with one of Australia’s most engaging environmental educators.
👟 Who Should Attend:
This walk is suitable for teens and adults with an interest in native flora and fauna.
Please note: This event is not suitable for young children.
