Sydney Harbour Hotel (formally The Rydges Sydney Harbour) offers a convenient and comfortable stay for those embarking on a cruise from Sydney. Located in the heart of The Rocks, one of Sydney’s most historic and charming neighbourhoods, the hotel provides easy access to the Circular Quay, where most cruise ships depart. While it’s not the fanciest of hotels, its proximity to the harbour makes it an ideal choice for travellers looking for a pre or post-cruise accommodation.
With its stunning views of the Sydney Harbour and the iconic Opera House, Sydney Harbour Hotel presents a picturesque setting for visitors. The hotel’s strategic location not only offers easy access to the cruise terminal but also provides a chance to explore the vibrant city centre and its attractions, making it a perfect choice for those looking to experience the best of Sydney before or after their cruise adventure.
The hotel’s prime location in The Rocks offers stunning views of Sydney Harbour and the iconic Sydney Opera House. You can enjoy the breathtaking views from the comfort of your room or from the hotel’s rooftop area. It was quite exciting to wake up and look out of the window to see that our cruise ship had docked while we slept.
Sydney Harbour Hotel offers a variety of room types to suit your needs. From cosy standard rooms to luxurious suites, you can choose the perfect accommodation for your stay. Each room is equipped with modern amenities such as air conditioning, flat-screen TV, and free Wi-Fi to ensure your comfort and convenience. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Our only complaint was that we had a room on the first floor and as we stayed on a Saturday night, there was a lot of noise on the street coming from the local nightclub until the early hours of the morning. Next time I would request to be located on higher floor and not facing the road.
The hotel’s Playfair Restaurant is open daily for breakfast from 7am – 10am and for dinner Thursday – Saturday 5pm – 8.30pm.
The Lobby Bar is open Tuesday to Saturday 4pm – 8.30pm. In addition there are lots of great restaurants, cafes and bars located on the hotel’s door step.
When you want to cool off and relax, the hotel’s rooftop swimming pool is the perfect place to be. The pool offers stunning views of Sydney Harbour, making it an ideal spot to soak up the sun and take in the scenery.
The pool area is accessed via a set of stairs which may be difficult for people with limited mobility.
The Sydney Harbour Hotel is conveniently located near the Overseas Passenger Terminal and the White Bay Cruise Terminal. The Overseas Passenger Terminal is just a 5-minute walk away, making it easy to get to your cruise ship on time. The White Bay Cruise Terminal is a bit further away, but still easily accessible by taxi or public transport. The hotel is also conveniently located a 10-minute walk from the Circular Quay train station.
Overall, the Sydney Harbour Hotel is an excellent choice for accommodation if you are going on a cruise. Its convenient location and accessibility to transport options make it easy to get to your cruise ship on time and explore all that Sydney has to offer.
