When in Esperance do be sure to take the Great Ocean Drive, it really is a spectacular experience with million dollar views of the West Australian coastline. And it’s absolutely free!
There are plenty of signs to guide you along the way, but the best spot to begin is near the visitors centre on Dempster Street. Pick up a few brochures and the lovely staff will give you some local knowledge on what to look out for along the way.
Head west and let the journey begin!

For all the budding photography enthusiasts this is an absolute must do! 
The coastline will certainly put on a show no matter the weather with an abundance of wildlife and scenery for days. You will be spoiled for photographic choice!
Plenty of hot spots including the Rotary Lookout, West Beach, Blue Haven, Salmon Beach and Fourth Beach.
For those daring enough to brave the crystal blue waters, Twilight Cove is very popular for a cool dip for locals and tourists. 
The pristine white sands and protected shore is perfectly suited for all swimmers and the views of offshore rocks is a sight to behold.
Be sure to stop off at the Observatory Lookout. There is a sturdy staircase that leads up to a viewing platform with unbelievable panorama views.
Of course no visit to Esperance would be complete without a trip past the famous Pink Lake, though be warned, it is can be a little temperamental when it chooses to showcase those gorgeous fairy floss hues. It is still an interesting sight to see regardless.
The Great Ocean Drive is a 38km loop that you can take as long as you like. Why not reward yourself with a lovely lunch or afternoon tea at one of the many eateries when you return to town!
