If you’re looking for somewhere new (but also old!) to explore in Perth, Baillie Hill in East Victoria Park is well worth adding to your list. This precinct (opened early 2026) has given the area a serious glow-up, transforming a historic site into a relaxed, community-focused destination that’s ideal for a wander, a bite to eat, or an easy catch-up with family and friends.

What I love about Baillie Hill is that it’s not just one venue – it’s a whole little village. There are different dining spots to choose from depending on your mood, whether you feel like a coffee and pastry, a long lunch, a casual pizza, a gelato, or even a picnic in the sunshine. It has something for everyone, whatever your age. The Berwick Bar & Kitchen is a relaxed neighborhood pub and dining space overlooking Elizabeth Baillie Park.

It features plenty of beers on tap, plus pool tables, sports viewing, and a classic pub menu. Pizza is a big feature, served from their dedicated wood fired oven.

Out the back, Milly’s Acre is an all-day dining venue.

There’s plenty of shaded tables surrounded by produce gardens and a kids playground.

Beth’s Bakery and Café is found inside a restored heritage rotunda. This specialty café and bakery serves exceptional pastries, artisan breads baked daily on-site, and premium coffee. And right next door is Greensleeves Gelato perfect for a soft-serve treats.

The setting is a big part of the appeal too. Baillie Hill has been built around the beautifully restored historic Elizabeth Baillie House, so there’s a lovely mix of old and new. The precinct feels fresh and lively, but it still has oodles of character. Add in the rose gardens, grassy open spaces and family-friendly design, and it becomes a place where you can happily linger longer than planned.

For grandparents, this is also a great one to keep in mind. There are multiple kid-friendly spaces nearby, so it works beautifully as a multigenerational outing. You can meet for lunch, let the little ones have a play on the pub’s playground, and enjoy a wander in the park to the fenced playground afterwards.

Baillie Hill is also easy to recommend if you’ve done the usual Vic Park café strip many times and want to try somewhere different. There’s plenty of parking, especially if you visit mid-week. Go for a coffee, stay for lunch, and have a wander while you’re there. Baillie Hill feels like one of those places East Vic Park has been waiting for.
