If you’re travelling down south on the South West Highway, you’ll want to jump out of the car and stretch your legs along the way. A tasty and convenient place to stop for a break is the Pinjarra Bakery in Waroona. The popular bakery is a little smaller than the main bakery in Pinjarra and is a hive of activity. It’s better than expected barista made coffee has made this a regular stop-off of mine when I’m travelling to the southwest.
The Waroona bakery has a tempting selection of savory meat pies and sweet baked goods. The signature pies have great names, such as the “Ned Kelly” a breakfast pie of beef, bacon, cheese and a whole egg.
For the pie purists, there’s a good collection of the classics – pepper steak, potato top and the good old Aussie meat pie, warming in the cabinet.
If you’re not into pies, of gluten free like me, there is a salad and sandwich bar where you can grab and go freshly made salad roll or have your salad or roll made up to order with your own choice of fillings. It’s hard to leave without purchasing a few sweet treats for the road trip.
There is an indoor air-conditioned dining area, with tables and comfy booths. The bakery also has an extra dining area outside where it is a little quieter than inside the busy cafe.
