The Bickley Valley, near Kalamunda, is brimming with brilliant boutique wineries. One such spot is Plume Estate. Drop by the cellar door for a wine tasting, or book a table in the light and open restaurant. It enjoys views over the valley’s rolling hills. It’s like Perth’s very own piece of Tuscany.
Most of the parking is found down a steep gravel driveway. Get dropped at the entrance if you have accessibility issues. With its idyllic setting, warm service, and a menu that pairs its platters and French-German fayre with its wines – you’ll be in for a treat. If you seek something a little different, explore the Bickley Valley for an unforgettable experience.
The restaurant’s interior is easily overlooked, as you’ll find it hard to tear your eyes off that view. In winter, the dining space is warmed by a log fire. The owners and attentive staff will greet and seat you.
Plume’s menu features local produce and seasonal flavours. The chef has a family history to bakers in the French-German borders and many old family recipes are used. We shared a well-stocked platter with olives, meats, cheeses, pate, dukka, relish, peppers and bread. All the produce on the platter was of exceptional quality and very fresh. The menu also caters for those with gluten free and vegetarian diets.
Their signature dish, Flammkuchen, is a sort-of German pizza. Topped with speck bacon and red onion, it’s delicious.
Plus, we added a tasty baked camembert cheese with crusty bread and haloumi salad.
Plume’s range of wines includes a sparkling pinot noir, a rosé made from merlot, some chardonnays, merlot, shiraz and a fortified shiraz too. A glass of rose went down very well with the food. Be sure to visit their cellar door and find your favourite.
Plume in Bickley is a little haven for those who appreciate the art of pairing food with wine. Take home a bottle, or treat yourself to a Plume candle or cheeseboard.
With its stunning setting, impeccable service, and a menu that showcases the best of local flavors, Plume provides something a little different. If you love the finer things in life – good food, wine and a scenic view, be sure to head to Plume. We enjoyed Plume Estate Bickley and would most certainly return again.
