Turquoise Café, Mandurah

Turquoise Café Mandurah

If a gentler outing is more your style, pop Turquoise Café at Dolphin Quay, in Mandurah on your brunch list. If the name sounds familiar, that’s because there are a chain of Turquoise Cafés throughout Perth, including Hillarys, Wanneroo and Midland. They’ve become quite an online sensation for their impressive looking brunch towers and bottomless brunches. The bright, open café is found right by the entrance to the marina’s pedestrian mall – all that natural light, blue water and boats bobbing away makes it feel like a little holiday without the long drive.

Turquoise is a lovely option for meeting friends or taking family out. The space is easy to navigate, with plenty of natural light and comfortable cushioned seating. Table service is friendly and unfussy. You’re not rushed off your table, which I always appreciate.

The coffee is good and strong, I really enjoyed my flat white in a mug. It was hot enough that I could linger with it a while.

The all-day brunch menu has many dishes to choose from – friend chicken and waffles, Turkish eggs, smashed avo, a big brekky and so much more. I particularly liked the ‘wood smoked salmon’ with avocado, crispy potato rosti, rocket, a perfectly poached egg, sprinkle of dukkah and the hollandaise is generous without being too heavy.

My friend Sarah enjoyed the ‘Riskey scramble” with house made chili paste, dukkah and scrambled egg served on a flakey roti. She enjoyed the dish and was glad she requested the chilli paste on the side, it was very spicy! The warmed roti is perfect for mopping up every last bit, if you love spice.

Looking for something lighter? There’s plenty of options in the cabinet.

Being at Dolphin Quay means you can easily turn brunch into a full morning out. Before or after you eat, wander along the boardwalk, browse the little shops and markets, or just sit by the water and watch for dolphins – they do pop up around the marina. There’s ample free parking nearby, and Mandurah foreshore is also within walking distance, if you’d like to explore further.

Turquoise Café is one of those relaxed spots that works beautifully for catch-ups – simple, tasty food, good coffee, and a lovely coastal outlook. It’s open for lunch too. Be sure to check it out.
