Viva Book Store, Busselton

Viva Book Store, Busselton

If you are a book lover, as I am, there is no better way to spend time browsing the shelves of a newly discovered bookstore. Imagine my delight when I came across Viva Books and Gifts in Busselton whilst on holiday.

Viva Book Store, Busselton

On the corner of Queen Street and Prince Street, the store is an independently owned bookshop, rather than part of a big chain. The store is quite large with an extensive selection ranging from popular titles to special interest, including both locally and internationally sourced books to choose from; but it is easy to navigate your way around with each section clearly signposted. The front of the store has the new releases and staff recommendations, so if you just want to grab the latest copy of your favourite writer or if you are looking for inspiration it’s easy to find.

If you happen to be shopping for grandchildren there is a separate children’s section at the rear of the store that is jam-packed with books, puzzles and games that will surely guarantee that you will find a gift to please.

The staff are helpful and enthusiastic without being imposing, and are happy to leave you to browse at your pleasure; which is always a good thing, as it’s so easy for me to lose all sense of time when there is such an array of books to choose from. I was looking for a journal for a younger person and having trouble finding exactly what I was looking for, but the assistant was very knowledgeable and found me the perfect book.

In addition to books and journals, the store also sells gifts and stationery and has lots of interesting bits and pieces that grabbed my attention. If you are buying a book or gift as a present, they offer gift wrapping and have a great selection of cards so that you can do a one-stop shop; they also offer an online service if you are unable to visit the store personally.

Now that I’ve discovered this bookstore I will certainly be visiting again on my next trip down south.
