If you’re enjoying a weekend drive through the Perth Hills, make a stop at Due Jolly Winery in Pickering Brook. The boutique winery near to Core Cider House and La Fattoria is well worth popping into for a platter over a glass or two of wine.
The decked area at the cellar door, overlooks their orchards. It’s a picturesque spot and has a Mediterranean feel. Due Jolly means โTwo Jokersโ in Italian after all.
Drinks
Thereโs a decent selection of wines available at Due Jolly, that will suit all wine tastes – fruity Vermentinos, dry Chardonnays, Shiraz, sparkling and more. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine with our platter and they were only $5 per glass! Rob, Due Jollyโs friendly Wine Maker guided us through the wines and was lovely to chat to.
If youโre the designated driver thereโs coffee ($4) and tea available too.
Food
We found the enormous platter great value at just $45. Itโs brimming with three cheeses, pickled veg, salami, a delicious terrine, dips, fruit, chutney, a vegetable frittata nuts, crackers, a veggie frittata, plus a fresh ciabatta loaf. This was a perfect size for three people grazing.
In winter there is a soup of the day and in summer months Due Jolly offers bruschetta. Here you can also enjoy an afternoon tea. Weโve previously popped by for a pot of tea and a scrumptious slice of cake. Thereโs usually a couple of freshly baked cakes and slices available.
If you love antiques, take a gander around their eclectic gift shop โ โCellar Bearsโ.
The cellar is full with lots of curios and other bits and bobs. It was fascinating and also a trip down memory lane seeing all the old objects like a mangle and an old fashioned TV!
All in All
The rustic Pickering Brook winery is a charming place to stop in the Bickley Valley region. As Due Jolly is only open on weekends it can get busy at times, so itโs best to call ahead to book a platter.
