Flinderz Cafe, Hillarys

Flinderz Cafe

Flinderz Cafe is found in Hillarys, though not at the Boat Harbour, like you may expect. The neighborhood café resides at the leafy Hillary’s Shopping Centre, in the heart of the coastal suburb. The shopping centre is small, and also features a Coles, pharmacy and a few specialty stores.

We popped by for a cuppa and piece of cake, on a weekday morning. Greeted at the door, we found the service to be friendly and efficient. A friendly waitress ushered us to a table in the covered alfresco area, which wraps around the café. We chose to sit there, as it was a little quieter than inside, also the cushioned bench seating looked comfortable.

Flinderz Cafe

There’s a good choice of drinks – coffee, tea, fresh juices and more. Over the years, we’ve always found Flinderz Café to serve quality coffee – currently Karvan is their roaster of choice. It is very good and a small, complimentary choc chip cookie is a nice touch.

My husband enjoyed a pot of his favourite Darjeeling tea.

There’s a breakfast and lunch menu, as well as a cabinet with fresh bakes, sandwiches and pastries.

We shared a fudgy white chocolate brownie.

And a nut and seed slice.

For the grandkids there’s a kid’s menu, as well as an enclosed kids’ corner with toys that will keep toddlers and pre-schoolers busy. Flinderz Cafe is a lovely spot to meet up with friends for breakfast, brunch, lunch or coffee and cake – or simply read the paper with a cuppa.
