Mid Century Cafe is a uniquely themed cafe and shop with great coffee, cake, hearty breakfast and delicious light lunches amid retro and vintage wares from the 1950s, 60s and 70s. It is just like Grandmas house!. Experience the lifestyle of a different era. I took my family here for breakfast Sunday morning. My Mum was reminiscing over the beautiful, retro furniture and collectables, many of which decorated her parents first home in Geraldton.
Try breakfast or lunch in one of the booths or take to the dining tables. I just fell in love with this retro kitchen booth with laminate kitchen table, bright yellow wallpaper, colourful aqua cupboards and vintage saucepans. It bought back many memorable times we shared around the kitchen table on my grandparents farm.
Enjoy morning or afternoon tea with coffee and cake in the comfortable red velvet lounge booth. Complete with bold patterned wallpaper, floor rug, retro lights, black and white TV, and radiogram.
Breakfast was a generous meal and reasonably priced. All meals presented beautifully. A couple of our choices were Italian sausage and eggs which were served with creamy scrambled eggs, topped with grilled Italian sausage and cherry tomatoes, drizzled with tangy balsamic glaze on toasted ciabatta with hash browns. The grandchildren ordered pancakes which were thick and fluffy, served with banana, caramel sauce and mascarpone.
Mid Century also do light lunches, catering for dine-in or takeaway. Vegetarian and gluten-free options available.
Families can relax and enjoy a meal while children play in a booth with their own kitchen, utensils, toys and books. My grandchildren were fascinated by the 1950’s model and the old hairdryer.
Enjoy looking at the retro, vintage and collectables display. I must admit, I still have my Yvonne Goolagong tennis racket, and a few of those vases and canisters.
Eye catching features at every point throughout the cafe, all lovingly restored. Mid Century cafe was the original site of a Charlie Carters
