A wander through beautiful gardens, a browse for new plants and a coffee beneath mature trees — Mason’s Family Farm’s new location in Anketell offers plenty of reasons to enjoy a relaxed outing. Now based at The Gardener’s Nursery on Thomas Road, the farm shop brings fresh eggs, local produce and farmyard fun to an established destination for garden lovers.

The farm shop has temporarily relocated from the working egg farm to help reduce unnecessary traffic around the hens as poultry biosecurity measures become increasingly important. Visitors can still pick up Mason’s farm-fresh eggs and enjoy meeting some of the other animals, with the added attraction of a nursery to explore.

The Gardener’s Nursery has been part of the local community for more than 40 years, passing into the Mason family’s hands in October 2025. Set among mature trees and established gardens, it offers a refreshing change from a quick trip to a big-box garden centre. This is somewhere to take your time, gather ideas for your own outdoor space and enjoy the surroundings.
Garden enthusiasts will find a wide selection of seedlings, flowering plants, herbs and fruit trees, along with an extensive range of indoor plants. Whether you’re refreshing a few pots on the patio, planning a vegetable patch or looking for something special for the garden, there’s plenty to browse.

Pots, garden ornaments, outdoor furniture and water features add to the appeal. The display gardens are also a source of inspiration, helping you picture how different plants and features might work at home.

One particularly useful feature is the nursery’s free advice on garden design, plant selection and garden features. Its trained staff and horticultural experts can help you explore options to suit your lifestyle. If you’re looking to simplify an established garden or make a smaller outdoor space more inviting, it’s worth having a chat with the team before choosing your plants.

When it’s time for a break, the coffee van offers coffee and light bites, including toasted sandwiches. Seating beside the children’s play area makes this a handy spot for grandparents visiting with grandchildren, with somewhere to sit while keeping an eye on the little ones.

There’s plenty to keep younger visitors interested, too. Resident goats provide opportunities for patting and feeding, while a tractor in the goat enclosure adds to the farmyard appeal. A large sandpit, craft tables, colouring activities and the nursery’s existing Playground offer a mix of active and quieter entertainment.

Pet birds and fish can also be found within the nursery, with a daily fish-feeding session at 9am. If that’s something your grandchildren would enjoy, check with the nursery before planning your visit around it.
Before heading home, browse the giftware near the entrance and stock up on local produce and Mason’s Family Farm eggs. It’s a pleasant way to combine a garden-shopping trip with a coffee catch-up or an outing with the grandchildren.

Onsite parking and toilets are available. Visitors who need step-free access or have particular mobility requirements should contact the nursery beforehand to check whether the layout suits their needs.
