Busselton Jetty

The iconic Busselton Jetty is a must-visit when in WA’s South West. You can walk its 1.8km length, take a train, and even visit the Underwater Observatory at the end of the jetty. The Busselton Jetty Underwater Observatory Tour includes a return train ride, a 40-minute guided tour of the observatory and a Jetty Day Pass.

The Stocker Preston Express electric jetty train is powered by solar panels. Since its first trip in 2017, it takes up to 90 passengers up and down the jetty, around once an hour.

A pre-recorded commentary is played through speakers in each carriage. You’ll learn plenty of interesting facts about the history of the Busselton Jetty, including how locals fought to save the damaged jetty after Cyclone Alby.

Little ones in particular will love this train ride, and can wave to all the jetty walkers on the jetty.  It’s a pleasant ride out along the ocean and there are pull-down windows if it gets too breezy for you.

At the observatory, a guide will take you through the different levels, down eight meters to the ocean floor.

Spot coral, and more than 300 individual marine species through the large viewing windows.

Once you return to the mainland, be sure to visit the Interpretive Centre where there are gifts and merchandise available for purchase. You can book tickets online, over the phone or at the Interpretive Centre.

Feeling puckish after? There are several spots close to the jetty to dine, including the immense Shelter Brewing Co, plus the fire-damaged favourite, The Goose, which is currently being rebuilt. A trip to Busselton and its Jetty is always a wonderful day out.

Find Busselton Jetty at 3L Queen Street, Busselton.
