The Avon Valley town of Northam is home to museums, and many interesting old buildings – including the Farmer’s Home. Sympathetically renovated by the Dome Group, in the style of their Premier Mill Hotel in Katanning, this spot is home to a boutique hotel, the Temperance Bar and of course, a Dome Cafe.
Wherever you visit Dome around Perth and WA, you can always know that your favourite cake, sandwich, drink etc is on the menu. A lot of people love that familiarity about it.
As well as Dome’s familiar furnishings of a timber and leather interior, there’s a pleasant outdoor space to enjoy your coffee and cake. This patio at the rear of the building overlooks the parkland on the banks of the Avon River.
The attached Dome Café is popular with locals and a good place for hotel guests to have breakfast. It also features an “After Five” menu that Dome’s metro cafes don’t usually offer. That menu includes heartier dishes you can enjoy for dinner.
Next door, the hotel’s Temperance Bar that has a tapas-style menu as well as local wines on tap.
Take a walk down the main street, and you’ll see just how rich the local architecture is, with building styles from just about every era.
The impressive Bilya Koort Museum is also a short walk away from Dome Cafe Northam. Dome Northam is a good spot to refuel if you’re exploring this county town.
