If you fancy spending some time being at one with nature, but don’t entirely want to give up your creature comforts, then a short break at Dwellingup Chalets and Caravan park could be just the place you are looking for. At around an easy 90 minute drive away from Perth, the park is close enough to escape to for a weekend; whilst the parks’ natural bushland setting will have you feeling you have travelled much further from the city.
There are lots of different accommodation options to choose from, depending on what you are looking for from your stay. If you really want to get back to nature, then there are bush camping sites for both tents and caravans.
The camping grounds boast basic but clean ablution blocks with lovely hot showers, there are also a couple of bbq’s, a basic campers kitchen and a guest laundry. As an added bonus, all sites have access to a fire pit, which lends itself to casual evenings sat around the fire toasting marshmallows; although the pits can only be used during the cooler winter months because of fire ban restrictions.
If you like the idea of being in the bush setting but are not comfortable with the idea of camping, the park offers a selection of cabins and chalets. There are “romantic” spa chalets for that cheeky little weekend away ( Hey, we may be older but that doesn’t mean the spark isn’t still burning bright- wink, wink). The chalets come equipped with air-con, en-suite and spa, TV, bedding and towels, tea & coffee and a bbq. There are also bigger chalets and cabins, sleeping up to 10 people if you want to go away as a group. If you are into hiking or bushwalking are walking one of the long trails the park also has available bushwalker rooms that offer the use of the camp kitchen, but you must provide your own linen and bedding. Pets are permitted in your own accommodation but not in any of the onsite accommodation.
Although the park is set within the state forest, it is within walking distance of Dwellingup townsite which boasts cafes, an IGA, a pub and of course, the famous Hotham Valley Railway, so you have plenty of options to spend a relaxing weekend.
