High Tea at The Duxton Perth

Celebrating a milestone like a 70th birthday deserves something extra special, and what better way to honour a dear friend than with a high tea at The Duxton Hotel. Perfectly situated in the central city location, this elegant venue offers an experience filled with warmth, and tasty touches that make the day memorable.

The elegant setting of The Duxton Hotel makes it an ideal choice for a celebratory high tea. Large windows allow natural light to flood the room from the terrace, creating a bright, inviting space. From the moment you step into The Duxton Hotel, you’re greeted by a welcoming atmosphere and impeccable friendly service that sets the tone for a relaxing afternoon sipping tea (or bubbles if you prefer). As we walked into the beautifully appointed Firewater Grille, we were met with a harp player. The soothing melodies add a touch of elegance to an afternoon of chatting over sweet treats.

The Sunday high tea at The Duxton Hotel is served from 1pm to 4pm. A variety of classic finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with cream and jam, and an assortment of sweet cakes are beautifully presented on tiered servers.

The high tea begins with a warm baked truffle mushroom tart, then an assortment of in-house handcrafted desserts, and freshly baked plain and raisin scones which are served warm with clotted cream, and berry compote.

Here’s the current menu line up, which may change;

SAVOURY
CUCUMBER AND CREAM CHEESE – Black bun, cucumber slices, aioli
CORONATION CHICKEN – Brioche, garlic mayo, chives
SALMON TRAMEZZINI – Capers, sour cream, salmon caviar, fine herb
TRUFFLE MUSHROOM TART – Assorted mushroom, truffle oil, fine herb

DESSERT
MOCHA HONEY GALETTE – Honeycomb chocolate cream, blueberry sponge, white chocolate namelaka
MANDARIN TIRAMISU – Mascarpone mandarin cream, coffee sponge in syrup, mandarin curd
HAZELNUT CHEESECAKE – Hazelnut cheesecake, mix nut crumble, poached spiced rhubarb, lime gel
DESSERT LIME PETITE GATEAUX – Coconut lime cream, dessert lime marmalade, wattle seed shortcrust
TRADITIONAL AND RAISIN SCONES – Clotted cream and berry compote

Enjoy the gourmet goodies with a free-flowing selection of fine gourmet teas, and barista made coffee or indulge in a glass of something boozy too. I enjoyed the “Matcha Fuit blend” tea, a green tea infusion of matcha, strawberries and peach.

  • $70 Free-flowing gourmet tea & barista coffee.
  • $80 Glass of house sparkling, and free-flowing tea & barista coffee.
  • $95 Glass of Daosa sparkling, and free-flowing tea & barista coffee.

For those with different dietary needs, the hotel includes gluten-free options, ensuring everyone can indulge in the delicious offerings. The GF option is slightly different, but tasty nonetheless.

Valet parking is available at $35 per vehicle, subject to availability. I parked at the City of Perth car park under the concert hall which is next to the Duxton.

If you’re planning a milestone birthday celebration, consider The Duxton Hotel for a high tea that combines elegance, good service, and pretty culinary treats. Bookings are essential.
