Kingsway Bar & Bistro, Darch

Found within the suburb of Darch, near Wanneroo, Kingsway Bar and Bistro offers up good pub food. This neighborhood bistro is an ideal spot where locals can gather to enjoy food, friendly service, and memorable group meals. Their huge dining rooms makes it perfect for a group gathering. We were there for a casual family lunch, but noticed there were many groups celebrating with friends and family. The expansive dining space accommodates long tables of all sizes. There were also many people taking advantage of the Kingsway Bar and Bistro’s senior specials.

Stepping into Kingsway Bar and Bistro, diners can pull up a chair in the spacious dining area, adorned with tasteful decor, or grab a table in the covered alfresco area. There’s a sports bar with TAB too, if you’re popping by for a pint. We sat in the alfresco area, but found it much warmer than the air-conditioned dining room. Also, essentially being in a shopping center car park, there was no view anyway.

The menu at Kingsway Bar and Bistro boasts a selection of dishes to satisfy every craving. From hearty pub classics; parmis, pies, shanks, curries, steak sandwiches and more to lighter dishes and salads, there’s something to tempt every appetite. I ordered the roasted pork belly ($38) with herb roasted potatoes, caramelised sweet potato puree, seasonal greens, and a red wine jus. This was tasty, though could have been served warmer.

Mr H fancied a steak. He ordered the 400g Ribeye. Served with herb roast potatoes, seasonal greens, plus a garlic and herb butter, and red wine jus. It was a generous portion, but he expected a far tastier steak for $49.

Seniors can take advantage of special discounts with the restaurant’s seniors specials, providing an affordable dining experience for older patrons. As of April 2024, the seniors lunch deal runs Monday to Thursdays and has 8 options, mainly for $20. Specials are valid for seniors card holders only.

If you’re a cake lover, don’t forget to save room for dessert! Kingsway Bar and Bistro has a mouthwatering selection of indulgent cakes. Whether you prefer rich chocolate creations or classic cheesecakes, the dessert menu offers tempting options to end your meal on a sweet note. If you are gluten intolerant, the bog-standard “orange and almond cake” seemed to be the only GF option.

Families will appreciate the variety of kids menu options to please young palates (12 years and under), making dining out an enjoyable experience for all.
