If you love a toasted sandwich oozing with cheese, check out Melt, a gourmet toastie bar next to the very popular cafe Sistas Burns Beach. Situated just steps from one of Perth’s most beautiful coastal walks (more on that here), this delish hole-in-the-wall spot offers the perfect combination of fab foodie bites and beach views.
Melt’s toasted sandwiches are far from ordinary with thoughtfully paired ingredients that create more-ish combos. Mr H is obsessed with their fresh thick-cut slices of bread, that encase meaty and melt-y middles. Their steak and cheese toastie particularly impressed him. We often head there for a Sunday morning bite, coffee and coast walk. He also has enjoyed their bacon and eggs toastie – the name I can’t even pronounce haha. GF options are available, but I haven’t yet tried those yet.
The takeaway coffee is so good! Mr H’s drink go-to is an iced chocolate and Sista’s deserves special mention (ordered inside at the neighboring cafe). Unlike many cafes where an iced chocolate is an afterthought, the Sistas version (with lashings of chocolate, whipped cream, ice cream and easy on the ice), provides the perfect companion for a leisurely walk on a sunny Perth day.
The coastal path at Burns Beach offers one of the most accessible walking and cycling experiences in Perth. The paved surface eliminates tripping hazards, while strategically placed benches provide resting spots with spectacular ocean views. On clear days, watching the waves while sipping on an excellent coffee, you might even spot a seal or dolphin.
For those with mobility considerations, while there is plenty of parking, but note this is a very busy spot in peak weekend times. There is a little shaded casual seating directly in front of Melt.
