If you’re looking for somewhere to sit back with delicious food, great wine and a family friendly atmosphere, Oakover Grounds Estate, Swan Valley ticks all the boxes. Boasting a very large car park to cater for special gatherings and weddings as well as disabled parking bays for easy access.
They are open for weekend breakfasts and lunches and throughout the week.
Situated in Middle Swan, just off the Great Northern Highway you will find its open rambling estate.
On entering the restaurant and cellar door it is like stepping into an industrial style shed.
This shed is more of a huge air-conditioned barn with a charm all of its own.
Oakover has wine tastings of its Oakover range of wines and its premium Clockwork vintage wines served by friendly staff.ย 
Along with the wine tastings they also have coffee tastings, coffee grinding and a supply of their own coffees for purchase.
The toilets are well signposted and easily accessed. They are on the outside of the building, just follow the pathway.
The restaurant has a well-balanced menu catering for all generations and gluten free options.
The menu contains their own wine list as well as cold pressed juices.
You are offered a choice of where to dine, inside or on the veranda at serviced tables, or outside on shaded picnic tables which have bar service.
Oakover has certainly captured family entertainment by offering table top games, oversized connect four, frisbees and paddle boats on the large lake. As a family or grandparent bringing grandchildren, you might want to pack a change of clothes as the children seemed to love a wade in the lake.
I sat outside with my daughter and grand-daughter to have lunch and while we waited for lunch we played a game of Jenga and listened to the sweet sounds of local birds on the lake and kookaburras serenading us.
There is something about this very relaxed atmosphere that with good food and a bottle of wine, you could spend the whole day here. From the very young to the more senior of us.
