Perth Aged Care Homes Shine: Leading the Nation in Quality and Compliance

In a heartwarming turn of events, Perth has emerged as a leader in aged care, with its homes being recognized among the best in the nation. According to a recent analysis by Caring Co, based on the latest data from the Department of Health and Aged Care covering January to March 2024, Perth’s aged care homes have set a new standard for excellence.

Outstanding Compliance and Quality Ratings

For the first time, Perth achieved a remarkable milestone with zero homes receiving compliance notices. This is a testament to the rigorous standards and dedication to quality care upheld by the city’s aged care providers. Compliance notices are issued when facilities fail to meet the required standards, and having none in the entire city is a significant accomplishment.

Furthermore, an impressive 61% of Perth’s aged care homes have received a 4-star or higher rating on the Aged Care Quality and Compliance System (ACQCS). This star rating system assesses various aspects of care, including staff qualifications, resident satisfaction, and the quality of the living environment. Among the top-rated facilities is St Lukes Nursing Home in Subiaco, which earned a perfect 5-star rating.

A Growing Community of Excellence

Perth is home to 120 aged care facilities, each striving to provide the best possible care for its residents. Of these, 81 facilities offer specialized care for individuals with dementia, ensuring that even the most vulnerable members of the community receive the attention and support they need.

The average refundable accommodation deposit for aged care facilities in Perth is $493,000. This investment goes towards creating a comfortable and nurturing environment for residents, where they can enjoy their golden years with dignity and respect.

Looking Ahead

As Perth’s aged care homes continue to go from strength to strength, the city’s commitment to providing exemplary care serves as a model for other regions. The achievements highlighted latest ACQCS star ratings underscore the importance of maintaining high standards and the positive impact it has on the lives of residents and their families.

Perth’s journey towards becoming a leader in aged care is a story of dedication, compassion, and community spirit. With such a strong foundation, the future looks bright for aged care in this vibrant city, ensuring that residents can look forward to a life filled with comfort, care, and dignity.
