Scott Street Café, Helena Valley

Scott Street Café Helena Valley

If you find yourself in the picturesque foothills of the Perth Hills, pop by Scott Street Café in Helena Valley. The character packed cafe is a great spot for to refuel after a drive down the iconic Zig Zag Scenic Drive, as it’s less than a 2km drive from here.

We recently stopped by for brunch at the warm, homely cafe, formerly known as Aunty Cath’s Cafe. In a nod to its location between former railway lines on the Zig Zag and Railway Reserves heritage Trail, the walls are clad with rustic old timber railway sleepers. Old photos of the steamtrains chugging along the tracks are a nice touch too.

For me, no café visit is complete without a big mug of coffee, and Scott Street Café didn’t disappoint. My flat white was smooth and expertly brewed, making it the perfect start to my day.

The ham eggs Benedict of rich hollandaise, perfectly poached eggs, and smoky ham atop wilted spinach and toast made for a classic brekky dish.

For a gluten-free option, I couldn’t resist the toasted banana bread, which was beautifully moist and served with butter.

My mum wanted a small, sweet bit to enjoy with her coffee and a slice of carrot cake with creamy frosting ticked that box. There’s plenty more cakes and slices to choose from in the chiller cabinet, as well as savory options including gourmet sandwiches.

Whether you’re catching up with friends, or stopping by after plant shopping at the wonderful Zanthorrea Nursery, Scott Street Café ticks all the boxes.
