The Berry Farm, Margaret River

The Berry Farm Margaret River

The Berry Farm, tucked away in Rosa Glen near Margaret River, is a delightful spot for a coffee, a wander around the grounds, and a visit to the cellar door. It has that old‑fashioned country charm – a quaint cottage, leafy gardens, and expansive lawns – with plenty of seating both inside and out.

You can settle indoors in the cosy cottage, or choose a table under the large patio, which overlooks the lawns and play areas (handy for if you have grandkids in tow). It’s an easy place to linger over a cuppa and watch the world (and tiny wrens) go by.

The cafe is dog friendly too, so well‑behaved pups are welcome to join you outside.

Morning tea is a bit of a specialty here. The traditional Devonshire tea of freshly baked scones with jam and cream looks particularly tempting. Not wanting to spoil our lunch, we shared a generous, nutty sticky date pudding (which is gluten free) and good, strong coffee.

If you’re after something more substantial, the cafe also offers a range of light meals and toasties.

We chose to sit on the verandah in the cottage garden area, by a beautiful mural of a blue fairy wren, which live in the grounds.

This spot is shaded by mature trees and surrounded by lush plants. As you sit, keep an eye out for local birdlife flitting about the gardens.

After finishing our coffees, we took a stroll around the expansive grounds. There are cows in a neighbouring paddock, as well as horses, sheep and even llamas on the other side of the car park. Near the cafe you’ll find a large chicken coop, and for a few dollars you can buy a bag of feed – great fun if you have younger family members in tow.

For a bit of gentle brain exercise, there’s also a giant outdoor chess set on the lawns, which is a fun way to pass the time.

The cellar door is well worth a visit.

As well as tastings of their fruity liqueurs, there are chutneys, jams and other gourmet goodies to sample, plus shelves of gifts and local products to take home.
